Maintenance includes...

1.Cleaning the pool
Vacuum Pool
- Brush Pool Walls
- Clean Skimmer Baskets
- Clean Pump Basket
- assure the pool water level is above the skimmer inlet by at least half. (normally
2.Equipment Maintenance
Ensure that the pump is fully primed with minimal air pockets in the strainer pot.
Backwash or clean filter as needed.
*Your pool equipment should be labeled with the brand and model. If you don’t have an owner’s manuals I would suggest trying to seek these out online. Most repairs should be done by a reputable service company, but many repairs can be done by do it yourselfers.*
Visually Inspect Equipment for Problems, look for leaks in and around your pump and filter.
3.Pool chemistry, sanitizers and other water balancers
*For Chlorine Pools*
- Test and Ensure all readings are at the proper levels.
- Chlorine 1 - 3 ppm
- Ph 7.2 - 7.8
- Alkalinity 125 - 150 ppm
- Stabilizer 60-120 ppm
It is always a good idea to make sure that you have the correct amount of Chlorine Tablets or Sticks inside the feeder. Shocking the pool with a chlorine oxidizer once a week is also recommended.
Of course all pools are different and the environmental impact on pools and bather load will determine how often you need to maintain your swimming pool. Most pools can be maintained chemically on a weekly basis using a Bio-guard three-step program and common sense. The same holds true for cleaning your pool. Of course the swimming pool is a living breathing (breeding) thing and if it’s an outdoor swimming pool, pool owners should always keep an eye on the pool and the weather conditions. Remember, it’s much easier to stay ahead of your swimming pool than trying to catch up with it. One suggestion would be to stop in at your local Bio-Guard store and ask what the local habit is for pool maintenance. You can also bring a sample of your pool water to have it tested by the Alex Accu-Scan system, which is much more accurate than any at home test. The people at your local Bio-Guard retail store are pool experts and should be able to help you with any questions about your swimming pool’s water chemistry.
